Kathryn Dain | Making Colour

Kathryn Dain | Repo Pop Popcans, acrylic & wood
178 x 356 cm, 2003

In this chromatic body of work, Repo Pop meets Neo Pointillism and colour becomes a physical thing. Kathryn Dain uses literally thousands of smashed popcans and cabinetmakers’ wood plugs to create formally connected relief surfaces upon which to play with a full palette of paint.
Scott Wallis | New Work

Scott Wallis | Spring Loaded #43,#53,#42,#51Alkyd on Mylar with screws,
eyelets, tubes, & extension springs | 15 x 15 x 2cm, 2003

By using a transparent base, Scott Wallis has found a way to liberate his paintings from the traditional canvas. In this body of work, Wallis has flawlessly applied pigments onto transparent surfaces and then layered them creating striking three dimensional, geometric works of art that play with the eye and entice the mind. This work is all about space and shifting perspectives as well as perceptions.
