P.L.U. Personal Living Unit
The artist is presenting a concept that reflects the modularization
of typical metropolitan life. While society is free to experience the
vast expanse of rural habitats, especially in Canada, the majority of
the population insists on cramming themselves into the cityscapes of
compartmentalized dwelling spaces. The viewer is encouraged to postulate
a future with this trend extrapolated to the extreme; a future where
each individual occupies the most minimal and efficient of space; a
personal living space.
As economic necessity forces more and more people into urban centers,
the extensiveness of the individual dwelling becomes less and less.
This reflective piece suggests a world of composite layers of overcrowding
and expresses an admonition against this congestion while hinting and
suggesting towards a hope of individual spatial freedom.
