"Ladder" from Water Drawings, 2008-09.

The exhibition presents photographic documentation of the ephemeral project Water Drawings and other new works by Blue Republic. The two-artist collaboration has participated in over 50 shows in Canada and internationally. Blue Republic is in the Viewing Program of the Drawing Center, New York.

"Blue Republic’s strength has been to bring an existential moral dimension to their photographic and installation works. The European, Situationist mindset has always underscored their work and added to a compelling impact. They have been makers of art anxious to address the world beyond art and so engage with the broadest dimensions of contemporary experience, pushing the borders where art overlaps with social space. It is work that begins in personal experience and which then lifts it to a shared, philosophical plane of consideration, attempting to consider a crucial aspect of our changing history and putting itself at the point where experience is only just now transforming itself into a language of story."
